Drupal setup help

Hi. Can someone please point me to the Drupal install help. I am looking for answers to the following basic questions:

1. Where do I FTP the Drupal files? Do they go into public_html, or somewhere else?

2. Should the files be placed directly into the install directory, or within a directory under the install directory?

3. What is the URL structure for initializing the Drupal installation? Is it example.com/install.php, or example.com/some_directory/install.php, or something else altogether?

I have spent hours trying various permutations to no avail. This is very frustrating because it is basic and should be prominently stated somewhere obvious.

    Yes public_html is the correct directory for Drupal.

    What is interesting is this is the first host that did not require any changes to htaccess or other files to get Drupal working. Of course, your millage may vary.

    Make sure that you have setup a MySQL DB first and read the Drupal installation instructions.

    Just use fantastico then upgrade from drupal site, easy eh!
